Chapter Three: The Flood

The pool wall cracked and collapsed. A thousand gallons of water crashed upon my little raft. With a yelp and a meow the entire crew of Pony’s ark fell back into the boat. The giant wave lifted our tiny vessel sending us sailing through the yard.

“Tidal wave!” Morton gurgled as the pool water knocked him off his feet. Joanne and Danielle were swept away splishing and splashing.

Bible Based Chapter Book
Funny Idea!

Apex, NC (August 21,2006)—Children’s book illustrator and author Ian Sands thought a plot based on a boy recreating a story from Genesis would be a funny idea. He had no idea how many more funny ideas he would develop through his characters as the story progressed.

Pony Wombat and the Second Ark, a Bible-based chapter book, is the story of a third grader who recreates the story of Noah's Ark using his pets and a rubber raft. He pretends his yard is the ocean while waiting for his pool to be filled.

The neighborhood bully, Morton, soon shows up and makes fun of Pony. That is until the pool cracks and a surge sweeps everyone down the street in one giant wave. The seemingly miraculous occurrence gives Morton the idea to start a club that recreates Bible stories. Unfortunately Morton’s flawed understanding of the Bible ends in some silly disasters. It's up to Pony Wombat to stop Morton before things really get out of hand.

Following chapters weave in the recreations of other Bible stories, all with a slight twist. The Garden of Ethan, Joanne and the Fish Bowl, Danielle and the Den of Puppies and Joshua and the Walls of Jericho Elementary School are all examples of this creative and funny story.

"I laughed and laughed," said Joan Edwards, Writer and Consultant of devotionals for Liturgical Publications. "It was such fun."
