The Squidball Machine

“What’s with the gumball machine?”

“Your Aunt Nyce got some crazy idea about filling this er machine with squid parts.”

Chef positioned the gumball machine on the dock then bent down and snapped open the toolbox. He pulled out a few bolts and a wrench and continued talking.

“She thinks folks will put in em quarters to feed the thing.”

Chef attached the gumball machine to the dock with the bolts. When he was done, he stood up and wiped his hands on his apron.

“I said to er, them squid will get stuck up in that machine.”

I looked through the glass of the machine. Tentacles, squid parts and a hundred eyeballs looked back at me. I covered my mouth with my hand.
